6 Factors That Drive Smart Blind Costs
Same window, wildly different prices? Here are the six biggest cost levers — pick the ones you actually need to control your total.
Window Size
Bigger windows need more material, larger headrails, and stronger lift mechanisms. Expect to pay 2-3x more for a 72" wide blind versus a 24" wide blind in the same fabric.
Motorization
Adding a motor adds $150-$200 per blind on average. Battery motors are cheaper upfront; hardwired motors cost more to install but never need battery swaps.
Smart Features
WiFi modules, voice control, and app integration add $200-$300 to a single blind, but $200-$300 total is often enough to outfit an entire home with shared smart features.
Fabric Grade
Standard fabrics are included in base prices. Designer patterns, blackout-rated fabrics, and natural materials (bamboo, linen) can add 20-50% to the base.
Mount Type
Inside mount (in the window frame) requires precise measuring but uses less fabric. Outside mount (above the frame) costs slightly more in materials but hides ugly frames.
Installation
DIY install is free but takes 30-60 minutes per blind. Professional installation runs $149-$199 per window and is worth it for motorized or large/heavy blinds.
5 Ways to Save on Smart Blinds™
Real, actionable tips that we use ourselves. None of these require negotiating or sketchy coupon codes.
Stack Multi-Window Discounts
Most retailers (us included) offer 10-15% off when you order 5+ blinds at once. Order your whole house in one go instead of one room at a time and save hundreds.
Free Shipping on Orders Over $99
Single small windows ship cheap, but big orders without free shipping can cost $40-$80 in freight. Cross the $99 threshold to skip shipping costs entirely.
Pick Standard Sizes Where You Can
Custom-cut blinds cost 15-25% more than standard sizes. If your windows are within 1" of a standard size, an outside-mount standard-size blind can save you real money.
DIY Install Standard Blinds
Skip the $149-$199 install fee on cordless and corded blinds — they take 20 minutes per window with a drill and a level. Save pro install for motorized and heavy wood blinds.

Pricing & Cost FAQs
The most common questions shoppers ask before placing a smart blinds order.
What are the cheapest smart blinds available?
Our entry-level smart blinds (battery-powered motorized roller shades) start at $230 per window in standard sizes. They include a remote control and can be upgraded to add WiFi/Alexa for an extra $50-$100 per blind via an add-on hub. The cheapest non-smart cordless cellular shades start at $86 per window — still a major upgrade over big-box store basics.
How do I get a free quote on my windows?
Three options: (1) Use our online instant calculator with your window measurements for ballpark pricing, (2) book a free virtual consultation where we walk through your home via video and quote on the spot, or (3) request a free in-home measure for projects of 5+ windows in eligible service zip codes. All three options are free with no obligation.
Why are some smart blinds so expensive ($500+)?
Premium-tier smart blinds run $400-$700 per window because they combine four costly features at once: (1) a high-torque motor for large/heavy blinds, (2) hardwired or premium battery power, (3) integrated smart hub electronics, and (4) designer-grade fabrics with blackout liners. For most homes, $250-$350 per window hits the sweet spot of features and value.
Are there hidden fees I should know about?
No. Our quoted price includes the blind itself, all mounting hardware, the remote control (for motorized), shipping (over $99), and a 5-year warranty. Installation is always quoted separately and clearly. Sales tax depends on your state. There are no measurement fees, no consultation fees, and no restocking fees on standard returns within 30 days.
Can I return smart blinds if I don't like them?
Yes. We offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on all standard-size blinds — return for a full refund minus return shipping. Custom-cut blinds (made-to-measure for your exact opening) follow our Custom Workmanship Guarantee: free remake if the issue is on our end (sizing error, fabric defect, motor failure), but custom cuts can't be returned for a refund if you simply change your mind.
