Straight answers about smart home control
Which smart home systems do your motorized shades work with?
Amazon Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit, when you choose the smart-home option. It adds a small Wi-Fi bridge that connects your shades to your home network. Without it, the shades work with the included remote.
Do I need a hub?
You need the small Wi-Fi bridge that comes with the smart-home option; you don't need a separate smart-home hub. For HomeKit automations and control away from home, Apple recommends an Apple Home hub such as an Apple TV or HomePod.
Do your shades support Matter, Thread, Zigbee or Z-Wave?
Not at the moment. Our smart-home option connects through a Wi-Fi bridge to Alexa, Google Home and Apple HomeKit. If you need a specific protocol, contact us before you order and we'll tell you honestly whether we can supply it.
Will my shades still work if the Wi-Fi goes down?
Yes. The included remote talks to the motor directly, so you can always open and close your shades with it. App and voice control return when your Wi-Fi does.
Can I add smart-home control later?
It's simplest to choose the smart-home option when you order. If you ordered remote-only shades and want app or voice control later, contact us and we'll check what your motors support.
